Platelet Rich Plasma, PRP, of ook wel ACP genoemd, is een regeneratieve injectietherapie die gebruikt maakt van de lichaamseigen genezingscapaciteit het eigen bloed om beschadigde of pijnlijke pezen, ligamenten, gewrichten of wervelkolom te herstellen.
Bij platelet rich plasma (PRP) wordt uw eigen bloed afgenomen en gecentrifugeerd. Door het centrifugeren ontstaan er twee lagen in het bloed: de onderste laag met rode bloedcellen de bovenste licht-gele laag met plasma. De scheidslijn tussen deze lagen is het bruikbare deel van het bloed en zit vol met bloedplaatjes (reparatiecellen, engels: platelets) en groeifactoren. Deze laag wordt geïsoleerd en uiteindelijk gebruikt als Platelet Rich Plasma.
Bloedplaatjes zijn bloedcellen die groeifactoren maken om herstel van weefsel te stimuleren en genezing te bevorderen.
Bij een schram van de huid zorgen de bloedplaatjes dat het bloeden stopt, dat er een korst wordt gevormd en dat de huid word hersteld.
Als we een geconcentreerd mengsel van deze cellen in een pijnlijke pees, gewricht of ligament injecteren kunnen we de lichaamseigen genezingsreactie sterk stimuleren om beschadiging en de pijn te genezen.
PRP is een veelzijdige behandeling die in onze praktijk voornamelijk wordt toegepast bij gewrichtsslijtage. Het is aangetoond dat PRP gewrichtsontstekingen t.g.v. slijtage geneest, afbraak van kraakbeen bij artrose remt, groei van nieuw kraakbeen kan stimuleren, de aanmaak van het natuurlijke smeermiddel stimuleert en pijnstillend werkt.
Naast gewrichtsslijtage komen veel chronische peesproblemen in aanmerking voor behandeling met PRP.
We zien in onze praktijk veel patiënten met chronische lage rugklachten. Veel van deze mensen hebben te maken instabiliteit van gewrichten en ligamenten van de rug. Naast behandeling met prolotherapie kunnen we ook PRP gebruiken om het genezingsproces te versnellen.
Veiligheid: PRP is een uiterst veilige behandeling. Er zijn nagenoeg geen bijwerkingen of complicaties omdat we bestanddelen van uw eigen bloed gebruiken. Zoals bij elke injectie is er een kans op napijn en een uiterst minimale kans op infectie.
